What is Manuel Lymph Drainage?
Manuel Lymph Drainage ( MLD ) is a safe and effective technique that utilizes a slow and gentle, rhythmic like touch to stimulate the flow of lymph fluid in the body. Tho gentle in nature, it stimulates the lymph vessels to contract thus transporting waste, proteins, toxins, and excess fluid thru the lymphatic system to the nodes to be filtered. In essence the lymphatic system cleans our blood, removes anything that the body does not need or that shouldn’t be there and then pumps clean, detoxified blood back in the circulatory system. How ingenious our body is! Enhancing this process of filtration has many therapeutic and medical benefits such as:
Enhances the immune responses
Promotes accelerated healing from injuries or surgeries
Has an analgesic effect thus decreasing pain
Promotes deep relaxing thus stress reducing
Stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system
Minimizes scar formation related to surguries
Who may benefit:
Anyone with a sluggish immune system
Sufferers of chronic pain
oncology ( chemo or radiation patients )
post surgery swelling and inflammation
What is a session like:
It is typical 45-60 minutes using a very light touch and technique we call “skin stretching”. It does not work the deeper layers of muscles but rather the lymphatic system which lies directly beneath the skin ( on top of the muscle ) . It begins with a series of neck and stomach sequences jump starting the deeper nodes, then working down the bottom focusing on any areas with swelling or of concern.
